Gifted Assessments for Children and Adolescents


Gifted assessment is a process of evaluating students who have demonstrated advanced intellectual and academic abilities, creativity, leadership capabilities, or exceptional talents. This assessment involves a combination of standardized tests and subjective assessments to determine whether the student has the potential to be identified as "gifted" by their school district. In many cases, a gifted assessment will also include interviews with teachers, family members, and other individuals familiar with the student's abilities. The results of the assessment are typically used to develop an appropriate educational plan for the student.



There are various gifted assessment options available, including:

Gifted Assessment - Cognitive with Report.


This assessment typically consists of: 30 mins history interview, 2 hours of Cognitive Testing, 3 hours of Report Writing, and 30 mins feedback session.
Total of 6 hours, estimated cost: $1,320.

Gifted Assessment - Cognitive without Report.


This assessment typically consists of: 30 mins history interview, 2 hours of Cognitive Testing, and 30 mins feedback session. Total of 3 hours, estimated cost: $660.

Gifted Assessment - Cognitive and Academic with Report.



This assessment typically consists of: 30 mins history interview, 2 hours of Cognitive Testing, 2 hours of Academic Testing, 4 hours of Report Writing, and 30 mins feedback session.
Total of 10 hours, estimated cost: $2200.


Psycho-Educational Assessments for Children and Adolescents.


A psycho-educational assessment involves a variety of tests and evaluations to determine a student's cognitive, academic, emotional, and social functioning. This type of assessment would typically include intelligence testing, achievement testing, behavioural/personality assessments, and subjective reports from parents or teachers. The results of the assessment are used to provide recommendations for educational planning and interventions.

Standard Psycho-Educational Assessments:


Standard Psycho-Educational Assessments - Cognitive, Academic, Social/Emotional/Behavioural with Report. This assessment typically consists of: 1 hour history interview, 2 hours of Cognitive Testing (including continuous performance test if needed), 2 hours of Academic Testing, up to 4 questionnaires, 6 hours of report writing, and 1 hour feedback session.
Total of 12 hours, estimated cost: $2640.


Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessments

An ADHD assessment consists of gathering information from the patient, their family and/or teachers, comprehensive psychological testing, and other assessments as needed. The psychologist typically looks for symptoms that are consistent with ADHD and which have persisted over time and across different settings. In addition to symptom-based criteria, it is important to consider other potential contributing factors (such as learning disabilities) in order to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Treatment recommendations are based on the results of the assessment.

ADHD Assessments:


ADHD Assessments - Cognitive, Social/Emotional/Behavioural with Report. This assessment typically consists of: 1 hour history interview, 2 hours of Cognitive Testing (continuous performance test), up to 4 Questionnaires; 4 hours of Report Writing, and 1 hour feedback session.
Total of 8 hours, estimated cost: $1760.


Assessments for Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD), and Canadian Pension Plan Disability (CPPD).

Assessments for Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD), and Canadian Pension Plan Disability (CPPD) These assessments are used to help a qualifying individual apply for government funding.

AISH, PDD, and CPPD Assessments:


AISH, PDD, and CPPD Assessments with Letter/Form Completion. These assessments typically consist of an overview of cognitive assessment, 30 mins history and adaptive skills interview, 1 hour clinical interview, 1 hour letter/form completion, and 30 mins feedback session.
Total of 3 hours, estimated cost: $660.


Individual Mental Health Assessments for Adults.

Foothills Counselling Psychology also offers individual assessments for adults who want to understand there social, emotional, and behavioral functioning better. This type of assessment helps the psychologist and client tailor specific strategies for their own needs which they can then work on in therapy or on their own.

Mental Health Assessments.


This assessment typically consists of a 1 hour clinical and history interview (social/emotional/behavioural) 2 hours of Personality Assessment Inventory Testing with Scales, 2 hours of Report Writing, and 1 hour feedback session.
Total of 5 hours, estimated cost: $1100.
